Mom Life

I found my tribe in an online mom group!

When you think about online mom groups, what comes to mind? Is it the “hot topic” posts that have a drama filled comment section? How about those sarcastic answers to new mom questions? I’ll admit, I am in a few facebook mom groups just for those popcorn worthy posts, but there is one group that I hold near and dear to my heart. I have been a member of this group since I found out I was pregnant with my son.

As soon as I got my BFP, I began downloading ALL of the new mom apps. (I also had to start researching what all the abbreviations meant. BFP= BIG FAT POSITIVE). I also started to join a bunch of mom groups on facebook. I joined a group for babies due in March 2017, the Lucky Charms. Little did I know, this group would become a HUGE part of my life.

In the beginning, I just read posts and commented on occasion. This group started out like any other group, with moms that did not get along on posts. Slowly the admins weeded the toxic ones out. I can’t tell you when it happened, but one day the ladies in this group stopped being strangers and started being friends. What had started as a group to discuss our pregnancies and eventually parenthood, turned into a place to go when you need a friend.

I don’t know what made this group so different than the rest but I am so glad it is. Maybe it’s because of our holiday gift exchanges or our weekly “baby idol”. Maybe I was just lucky enough to get pregnant at the same time as a bunch of amazing women. We have gotten to know each other so well over the past three years and I feel I have made lifelong friends.

The special thing about the Lucky Charms is, though we all live around the world, we are there for each other when needed. We rally around each other when life gets hard and we are each others biggest cheerleaders. This group is my safe place, a judgement free zone. You may think that it is impossible to make friends over the internet but I am here to tell you, you can! These women have become my best friends. When I am struggling with decisions, they are the ones I go to. I found my tribe in an online mom group and I will forever be grateful for them.

Hi! I’m Nicole. I am a mom to a crazy toddler and a kindergarten teacher. Welcome to my blog where I discuss mom life, teacher life, and life in general!
